What Are Face Fillers?

Face fillers

Fillers for the face are gel-like fillers with a stable structure, which are injected under the skin. They help to remove imperfections, correct aesthetic defects. The name comes from the English “fill”, which means to fill.

What are face fillers?

Face fillers are gel-based preparations that, when injected into the dermal layers or under the muscle, correct the face contour and the manifestation of natural or early signs of ageing.

To achieve a pronounced cosmetic effect without side reactions, injections require compliance with several conditions:

  • they should be performed by a qualified and experienced physician familiar with the anatomical features of the human face;
  • the drug is selected taking into account your individual characteristics and needs, necessarily high-quality and certified by regulatory organisations as a dermal filler;
  • needles are selected depending on the density of the drug;
  • the procedure is carried out in the clinic (injections carried out at home are dangerous with complications).

Features of the procedure

Face fillers – what is this procedure and how to prepare for it? Despite the fact that the drug is injected through the thinnest needles, in some areas of the face (lips, area near the nose), sensations can be very painful. Talk to your doctor about your pain threshold and the need for local anesthesia, as well as your allergy tendencies, chronic illnesses, and current well-being.

Step 1. The doctor cleans the face using a mild antiseptic.

Step 2. Direct injection. Their number is determined by the cosmetologist, starting from the dosage of the drug and the desired effect.

Step 3. After the injections, the doctor massages the skin to evenly distribute the filler.

Immediately after the procedure, puffiness will be noticeable, which subsides in 2-3 days. A stable result will declare itself in about two weeks.

Face filler types

Most often, natural compounds that are not rejected by the skin and are easily excreted from the body act as the main substance in the formulations of preparations for contouring. But cosmetologists are not limited only to them. If you need to buy fillers online let’s take a quick look at each group of drugs and find out what is the fundamental difference between them.

Fillers based on hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is an important element of human skin and connective tissue. Along with collagen and elastin fibers, it ensures youthfulness and elasticity of the skin. However, over time, its synthesis decreases by about 1% every year.

Fillers based on hyaluronic acid replenish the loss of natural

“Hyaluronic”, improve skin relief, correct wrinkles and improve the oval of the face.

The main features of fillers with hyaluronic acid are that they are biocompatible (well accepted by the body), distributed without lumps and irregularities, and disintegrate naturally in the process of biodegradation.

Biosynthetic

Biosynthetic implants are gels with synthetic and natural components that have a fairly high level of biocompatibility. Still, there is a risk of allergy or filler rejection, especially with older generations of drugs.

Currently, the following compounds are used in biosynthetic preparations, which rarely cause rejection after injections:

  • Calcium hydroxyapatite.
  • Polylactide.

Synthetic

Not subject to biodegradation. In other words, only a doctor can remove them. In essence, these are polymers – silicones, acrylics, etc. In some cases, they are used for medical reasons. In aesthetic cosmetology, synthetic fillers are practically not used for a number of reasons:

  • The likelihood of side effects is high;
  • The polymer can form lumps and migrate in tissues;
  • Allergic reactions are possible.
