Your skin will inevitably sag and develop wrinkles as you age. Some people even develop double chins and jowls. Fortunately, a facelift will be able to deal with your ageing skin and help you achieve a youthful appearance. There are a couple of things you need to do before this procedure to help you get the best results and prevent bruising. This article will provide a quick guide to preparing for a facelift.

Wear sunscreen

You wouldn’t want to go in for a facelift with sunburns all over your face. It wouldn’t be shocking to find out that sunburns and incisions don’t go well together. Even though you should be wearing sunscreen every day anyway, ensure you apply a generous amount of sunscreen before your procedure.

Determine whether insurance will cover your treatment

A facelift is not a cheap procedure. Therefore, it would be best to find out if your insurance plan will cover your treatment. If not, you must prepare yourself financially to pay for the procedure before scheduling an appointment.

Find a professional

The last thing you would want during and after your facelift is to get a ton of bruising and infections. As you prepare to get a facelift, ensure you select a certified cosmetic surgeon who has the right credentials. A great option is to get a facelift by Dr. Mark Fisher, who will ensure you get the results you desire.

Drink plenty of water

Water helps the body heal faster. Ensure you drink plenty of water days before your procedure to guarantee a smooth recovery period. Experts recommend at least eight glasses of water a day.

Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning drugs

Certain medications such as aspirin and anti-inflammatory medication can increase your chances of bruising after you have had a facelift. They also put you at risk of bleeding excessively during and after your treatment. It would be best to avoid blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory drugs as you prepare for a facelift.

Prepare your meals in advance

You can imagine the hustle of cooking meals during your recovery time after a facelift. We recommend cooking and freezing your meals in advance to save you from spending long hours in the kitchen when you should be resting. Alternatively, you could get fresh meals delivered to your doorstep.

Temporarily discard turtlenecks and tight shirts

It can be quite inconvenient to try and pull tight shirts and turtlenecks over your face without hurting yourself. We recommend stocking up on button-up shirts, clothes with zips, or those you can tie easily. Selecting the right clothing will stop you from bruising your face during recovery.

Plan for assistance

After your surgery, you will need someone to drive you home from the doctor’s office and people to help you around the house. Make arrangements with your spouse or loved ones to get a ride from the hospital and help you clean up at home before you can get back on your feet.

Wrap up

A facelift will give you natural-looking results and help you boost your self-esteem. Remember to adequately prepare for a facelift, especially finding the right professional.

Thanks for sharing such helpful content! By the way, to keep the result of the lift as long as possible, I would recommend using sunscreen and cream with retinoids permanently. And it’s better to use over-the-counter retinol cream as it’s much weaker than prescription-strength retinoid cream, such as Retin-A.
