It can be hard to get out there and exercise when every time you do it something hurts. That puts a great burden on anyone as you feel the guilt of not exercising paired with the health benefits you aren’t gaining due to your lack of exercise. This is why so many people visit physios like CKPhysio (visit company website here), in order to get their aches and pains in order. Of course, alongside this, it’s important to exercise at home, too. We’ve come up with 5 great exercises for your knees. These are low-impact exercises that are great for your knees.

Yoga

Yoga is a fantastic low impact exercise that benefits all areas of your body, but it is especially great because there are plenty of routines to keep the weight off your knees while you strengthen and tone your body.

Through a myriad of floor routines, you can gain all of the benefits that yoga offers. Just look up “low impact yoga” or “beginners yoga” on YouTube and you’ll have hundreds of free workouts at your disposal.

Swimming

The buoyancy in the water as you float is what makes swimming a great low impact exercise. And you don’t just have to swim laps at the public pool to get a great exercise. Try making it more fun by going out to a family swim, playing water polo, or swimming at a local lake during an end of summer camping trip.

There are tons of ways to make swimming fun and plenty of health benefits to gain with it.

TRX

TRX is a workout that uses resistance bands and straps for strength training workouts you can do at home. Because you’re not adding extra weight to your workout, this exercise can be great for your knees, and it has all of the benefits of traditional machines and weight training.

Just do a quick Pinterest or YouTube search for TRX routines and you’ll have plenty of exercises to get you through.

Rowing

Have you ever been in a rowboat? The act of rowing works out your entire body, and has tons of great health benefits. Whether you have a rowboat and a lake nearby or can hit up the rowing machine at your local gym, this exercise is sure to get you moving again. It’s fun, easy, and you can take it at your own pace and resistance to make sure you get the maximum benefit from it.

And if you’re not sure how to use the rowing machine, just ask the trainer at your gym. That’s what they are there for, and they will be more than happy to help you on your health journey!

Walking

As boring as walking can sound, this classic workout is so great for low impact needs. And it doesn’t have to be boring. Take your dog on a walk, walk and chat with a friend, go on a nature trail, walk to a nearby park, or go on a date night by walking to the nearest frozen yogurt shop. There are so many ways to incorporate this exercise into your daily routine all while making it fun and interesting.

Don’t let your fear of pain keep you from gaining the healthy life that you deserve. There are exercises out there for everyone at all levels of capability. And if you are experiencing regular joint pain in your knees, trying seeing an orthopedic specialist. They will be able to recommend various treatment options to help you get back to feeling normal again.
